Philipp Neumann is the new HIFIS Spokesperson
Since May 2024, Neumann has been the new Head of IT at DESY, a position that includes the role as HIFIS Spokesperson.
His predecessor, Volker Gülzow, retired recently.
Gülzow tirelessly initiated and significantly contributed to the establishment of the HIFIS platform, making it a success from the start.
Neumann’s start coincides with an important phase for the HIFIS platform, as the new funding period begins in 2025.
We wish him much success in his new role and look forward to the impulses he will bring to the platform.

Helmholtz Cloud: The legal basis is in place
After four years of hard work, the ruleset of the Helmholtz Cloud has taken a big leap forward.
HIFIS brought together experts from legal and tax law and engaged external consultants.
Helmholtz’s diversity, with two different ministries as funders and different legal forms, required careful research into the financing of the Helmholtz Cloud.
Now, 18 Helmholtz Centres, along with the head office, have reached an agreement on the rules for service providers and user groups in the Helmholtz Cloud.

First round of Helmholtz Incubator Software Award finalized
The selection process for the inaugural Helmholtz Incubator Software Award has been finalized, the winners in the three price categories will be announced soon.
The overwhelming response and high-quality submissions have encouraged us to launch a second round.
We anticipate to publish the new call by summer 2024. Stay tuned!

This is an excellent opportunity for you to showcase your innovative software projects, improve referencability and receive recognition for your contributions.
An entry in RSD is precondition to identify potential future awardees.
