How to enter a Matrix Space (Team) or Room (Channel)¶

Helmholtz Matrix Documentation is WIP!

We plan to offer Helmholtz Matrix from April 2026. This first documentation is yet work in progress. Do not rely on it yet! Feel free to provide feedback if you encounter any errors.

If your matrix account is quite new, your new matrix ID will not be findable for anyone, including your own group manager.
There are three ways to join your space and/or groups

Public Spaces, and Public or Visible Rooms¶

Just search for it and join, if …

… the space is public,
… the room is public
… the room is visible to spaces you are a member of.

Private Space or Room¶

If the space or room is private, …

… your moderator/admin should provide you a link and you can “knock”. (Find information about invitations on How to create a Matrix room)
… you can give your exact (!) matrix ID to your group manager and lit her/him invite you.
- click on your profile logo at the top left
- click settings
- the Username is your correct Matrix ID, e. g. @name-ab3cd:helmholtz.cloud
  - don’t forget the “@” at the beginning
